Eric,

I fully take your point. As a Christian, one thing that really makes me very uncomfortable is to think of the huge number of innocent people that's going to get killed in the military act in the forseeable future. I know that we will try to limit our action to minimum damage, but still...a life is a life. And I don't see why lives of American people are more precious than those from the third world.

ot: Nice idea. Curious, are you willing to sell your boat and second home to help pay for the idea? Don't mean to start an argument, but the US already throws so much taxpayer money away trying to help the world, and it seems like all we accomplish is financing the despots you mentioned.knc

Eric,

Your thoughts are nice but in reality situation in
third world countries is not that "clean and easy"
to fix. Most off these 3rd world countries are ruled
by dictators which in most cases are supported by
west for some reason or the other. Majority of people
living in 3rd world countries don't even know what
Wall Street is - they are more concerned in getting
a piece of bread (and I mean it) or sleep hungry.

Also corruption is rampant, 90% or more of IMF/World Bank
aid makes it way back to Swiss banks, development only happens on paper !!!

Eric - Are you talking about those despots that we financed when it suited us? Like Saddam?? Hey, seems we had no problem backing Bin Laden when he was fighting the Soviets. I wonder how many new ones we will back in the process of spreading cash around (uh, foreign aid) to further our goals this time. I hear Pakistan wants us to forgive their 30B debt for starters...
