That which is earned, is defended more vigorously, than that which is given.

That said, because I do not believe it would be as simple as paying others to do our dirty work.

The Tali rules by force, the Afghans, for the most part, are poor peasants, with little means to resist. There are signs that the people are discontent but that may not be enough.

All that said, I am not sure I would support an action to supply resistance. My feeling is that it would be a black hole with little or no results. Nor can I see fighting a ground war as the russians proved this too most likely will be futile.

Ground actions in Afghanistan are likely to be limited special ops, with air support.

Obviously, too early to tell at this point. We shall see.
