Hi TLC; Please explain your point further.

I gather that what happened is that the United States explained to Pakistan that the US would (or might) perform military activities if Osama bin Laden wasn't handed over by Afghanistan within 72 hours. Pakistan then went to Afghanistan and informed them of this. Tell me where I got it wrong, or what the significance of your statement is. I don't see much difference between that and an ultimatum:

ultimatum
2. A statement, especially in diplomatic negotiations, that expresses or implies the threat of serious penalties if the terms are not accepted.
