The next terrorist attack won't be in a prominent location. It will be in a Safeway or Kmart in an inconspicuous middle-American town. It will be so unfathomable, that it will scare people even more than we are scared now. This is what terrifies me now. How can our government protect us from this type of craziness? How can I be sure that I'm safe, if we're fighting an enemy that is willing to give up his life to take mine? In Israel, they routinely bomb pizza parlors and everyday shops. No one knows where it will come from next. They live in terror and so will we, unless we figure out how to combat this evil and lift the countries in the middle east up through economics, technology, and education.

I'm a believer in capitalism and I hate handouts, but this humanitarian effort will be a critical component of the post-military effort needed to resolve the root causes of the problem (ignorance, lack of economic opportunity, and desperation) rather than just the symptoms (terrorism, fanaticism, and intolerance).
