CB asks why posit more than one brand? I think it pointless to posit any. To have the view that the universe orbits around humans is absurd. To have the earth orbit around the few true believers of whichever brand is more absurd. It seems to take a lot of Mullahs, Priests, Jim Jones and David Koresh and human sacrifice to keep the religions in orbit around those with a hotline to the big fella. There are more than three brands of cereal and many brands of superstition and belief in mystical supernatural forces, not one. It's nice to pretend the superstitious are all one happy family believing that there is one Santa in the sky concerned about the believers and not the heathens. They are not. This is medieval stuff. Fancy being involved with the dark ages in the 21st century, with marauding proponents of the competing manias still murdering on a daily basis in the name of their wacky superstitions. Communism and religious fanatics both subsume the individual to the will of those with the hotline to the true word. They have a lot in common. The USA still has plenty of both! So does NZ. So does Australia. Mystical superstitions are unarguable and based only on dogma. There is no reasoning with such people. CB says the USA has a mystical line around Islam. Perhaps a death threat or two would cure me of my madness. Hey! I bet the devil has hold of me and it can be exorcized with help from a hammer. There is one objective universe and it is defined by television. There are competing brands; CNN, CNBC, Cyberspace, TV3 [our local channel] and swarms more. The one true objective universe is of course cyberspace. I can feel a Fatwah coming on. I'm going to organize some burning at the stake of anyone watching those other televisions. We can excommunicate them from cyberspace. CB didn't know how Globalstar orbits around earth or why it failed. How the heck can she figure out the orbit of the One True Santa for all of humanity and why should anyone think she knows that her one true Santa is the one orbiting around Jews and Arabs and Shintos and Bahais and Catholics and Jim Jones and atheists and those who have never given the whole business a thought? Mqurice PS: Here is CB: <At any rate, I don't think anyone's religion is too strange to respect, even if I don't agree with it, or even understand it. > I suppose some people respect Aztecs who cut the living heart out of yummy young virgins [females of course] and took a bite in the name of their pleadings by their priests to their Santa in the Sky. Personally, I don't think that sort of stuff warrants respect. Nor David Koresh. Nor this Bin Laden guy. Nor a lot more besides. Though I do like the idea of burning a few witches at the stake which I hear was a popular Catholic past time; I should undergo a conversion.
