I am more confident in the ability of our forces to handle this, but we will have to see what happens. If we are planning a major strike, or series of major strikes, we need to have our ducks in a row, so delay was inevitable......

Hi kvkkc1; Re: "Many in this country don't have the stomach for what needs to be done." True, but they are not in the majority.

Re: "Secondly, our military hasn't trained for this type of warfare." False.

Re: "Logistically, it will be a nightmare." True, but wars are always logistical nightmares.

Re: "Our soldiers will be told to be sensitive to the customs of the host country, just as we were 10 years ago in Saudi." True, just as our soldiers were told to be sensitive to the customs of Britain in 1940.

Re: "We no longer have the killer instinct that we need in the Armed Forces. They have been babied." False and false. Due to advances in the practical psychological theory of killing, combat soldiers are more ready to kill than ever, but to avoid atrocities. They did fine in the last Gulf war.

"We no longer have the killer instinct that we need in the Armed Forces. They have been babied. knc"

Let's give 'em a chance before you say that knc. It is hard to show (or have) the killer look and instinct when all is mostly good in the world. Rather questioned this generation's resolve in a time like this. I think you will be surprised what we can do in a time like this.

I occasionaly watch the learning channel type shows about our commandos, air borne rescue teams, etc and they look like real ass kickers to me. I will put our guys against these terrosists and their training camps made up of monkey bars and playground apperatices ANY DAY. I know they will do us all proud.

God Bless our mean and women in the armed forces.

Dear K: When it comes to our special forces BOY do you have a lot to learn. I trained with the Marine Recons, now granted that was long ago, but I assure you they got the INSTINCTS, more recently I had a friend in the Navy Seals and observed some of their training, you dont want to meet one of those guys on a dark street. Thats the extent of my first hand knowledge of Special Forces, but I am quite confident they dont call them SPECIAL for nothing. (gg) JDN
