"First of all I don't think we have enough $$$ to bail out all those industries"

Sure we do, we will just run a deficit to do it. It is very much like the banking crisis we had 15 years ago, if they collapse, then we are in worse shape than we would be if we bail them out. OTOH, it also very well may result in them being regulated, if not nationalized. We just don't have the rail system to replace the airlines, and even if we did, it would be of dubious economics. The US isn't Europe, we are way too spread out to subsist on rail. There is a need to be able to go from one coast to another and return in the same day. Until we get good quality, universal, high bandwidth connections, we are stuck with airliners. Period.

I think considering the government ordered shut down hurt them hard some relief for the airlines might make sense. And I'm generally a libertarian and a supporter of free markets. But I probably would not give them all that they are asking for.

Edit - In response to you later question - No I would not support a general government bailout for hurting industries like insurance and hotels.
