I'd like to see the first two words changed to something like "Stand strong".

I think that the attraction of God Bless America is that it is such a sweet, innocent song. No arrogance. No belligerence. Although I would prefer to avoid the deity reference, the sentiment seems suitable to me.

"It would make me feel more comfortable"

Are you serious? What, besides your comfort, do you think such a move would accomplish? Isn't the idea that all is one, and one is all, just another Theological viewpoint that must be imposed on others. Aren't you in essence, saying that those who dare disagree with such a viewpoint are somehow wrong? I fail to see how that viewpoint is any less bigoted and closed minded than the present situation, but then, perhaps I'm missing something.

Write your own song, revisionist. This one is what it is. I like the Ray Charles version played real loud - how about you?

One of the reasons this country exists is the freedom to worship God. You don't HAVE to do it or do it my way but why get on the case of those that do?
