that all depends on what your definition of "open-mindedness" is.

Open-mindedness, like intelligent means you think like me.

Tenchusatsu,<<<it wasn't too long ago that displaying the American flag at the workplace was considered politically incorrect because that would be "insensitive to international co-workers.">>>

Have you ever heard the term, throwing out the baby with the bath water ?.

I have the US Flag flying in front of my house right now. I usually display the flag on holidays (Fourth, Memorial, Veterans, and Flag day).

My neighborhood is relatively prosperous. Although there are some from the International community but glaringly absent are African-American homeowners.

Flying the flag normally is not a cool thing to do in this community atlthough there are a few more flags besides my own that are now flying.

You would characterize the neighborhood as very Politically Correct(/i>. The current occupant of the Whitehouse received very few votes.

Flying the flag is my right and I am exercising my right. But if someone were to fly the Confederate flag or a Nazi flag on a Jewish holy day especially, I don't know how I would feel. I know I wouldn't feel good about it and chances are I wouldn't do anything about it.

But can you see the problem? There are no simple solutions. I have respected your opinions up until now, but now I am deeply disappointed.

<<<I have never been a fan of fake solutions to real problems. Political correctness, in my opinion, fits into this category.>>>

Political Correctness is not a fake solution. It's not a perfect solution for many situations. In some cases it can make matters worse. But that is democracy at work. It does far more good than harm.
