<<Why exactly is the gov't using my hard-earned tax dollars to bail out the airlines?>>

That's just it, these guys were about to go busto even without the help of Osama. Now they're gonna use it for cover to get saved by you, me, and J1P via governmental bail-out, all the while keeping clearly failing businesses going and sending hard-stolen capital down an interventionist rathole. But they're not the only industry in trouble...do we bail out car rental firms, hotels, theme parks, luxury restaurants, sports team owners, etc, etc, etc.

Bad, bad, bad business...this will prolong the inevitable for YEARS, methinks. We're following the Jap bubble implosion script to a "T".

Wasn't it Buffet who said the worst investment he ever made was when he bought (part) of an airline?<NG>

EDIT: I'm nominating your post for "Cool Post of the Day" since it was particularly incisive and quite topical.

Reaper:

My sentiments precisely,.... especially for those who folllowed Wall Street's commands and bought back their stock at insane prices. One might say that they are "reaping" (lousy pun) what they have sown. (g)

Best, Earlie

So what you're saying is you'd rather continue giving billions to #insert name of foreign country here#, have THEM piss it away, then bail out THEIR interest payments, instead of keeping American companies afloat thus keeping American jobs, and the American economy afloat? Tell me, are you an American?
This country needs to do MORE for American companies, not less. I say help us before we help across the borders. Your mentality shows just how messed up this country's thinking is! Our country needs to tighten up and worry about its own borders FIRST.
BTW your social security money helped pay for guns for Bin Laden's jihad during the Reagan era, but I guess that's better than saving American jobs, right?
