Allan, firstly, i second your market observation (mentioned the same thing in an earlier post today).

secondly, Europe has unanimously declared its solidarity with the US, however , people are very worried that a wider war may result from the impending military strikes. European politicians are very concerned that they are made part of the consultation process regarding the coming activities. various initiatives aiming to at least pacify the Israeli/Palestine situation are underway.
much uncertainty, i would say...NOT the type of climate stock markets like.

Allan I think My fear, is the overconfidence at which the US Government is acting. I dont think this is a war that will be won in months, but years. I think there are huge geo-political issues that are close to insurmountable. I also believe at some point we will have a full scale land war as a result of these actions. I think these issues depict an expensive, risky, un attainible situation. SO how can people price in what has never before occcured? We have had conventional wars, but nothing like this. In the states the tourist,Travel and related industries have been devastated. Though they will eventially recover it will create a HUGE snowball of negative growth. I am not short, but am more bearish longer term then ever. I think this is the beginning of the end of US single pole Hegemony in the world. I also think the dolllar is toast. I agree about ST rally though, but would rather play dollar hedges, which are higher prob bets with less downside.

AA,, A little over a year ago, this would have been spun as good news for stocks, and after a smart selloff they would have rallied to new highs.... There's still an amazing amount of dipsters,, witness the Spoos the last couple of mornings...
