mm, although in the intermediate term I am as pessimistic as you, I am much more hopeful in the longer term. In a perverse way, I think last week's tragedy may actually help solve the key problem: the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. I see this conflict as fundamentally economic. With the stakes raised so high, and the specter of nuclear incineration of one or more American or European cities, the West will find the money to bribe the Palestinians and Israelis so they can achieve a solution and bring economic prosperity in the area on both sides.

Once this slide ends, and it will, the shorts will not be so sure and people won't be so gloomy. If it were not so, it would be a crappy short entry.
