It would indeed, but I'm really wondering whether the U.S. even assisted by Pakistan, could maintain a supply line sufficient to defend the airbase for any length of time. Even if they were able to capture the airfield, incoming aircraft would be subject to antiaircraft attack unless a wide area surrounding the airfield could be maintained free of the enemy.
