All,

My Dad called me from Islamabad (Pakistan) last night, as if I don't already have enough to worry about!

He's a reporter for a national paper and is there on assignment. He said the people were protesting their governments' symphathy for the USA by turning some cars over and just acting like real jerks. But he said the government was not budging on its position.

My Dad has almost been killed several times in 30 years in his profession. (And that's not including his time in Nam as a Marine) I hope his luck doesn't run out now.

D

Yo G,

Okay, my check for $20k is in the mail, and I didn't mark it up. =8-))

Ugly market these days, eh? Looks like a down day on the way. Again. Couple of weeks ago we sold a small holding of AMAT for $47 and change, thinking we might sell more at about there later if we wanted a bit more cash handy.

Now it's under $30. I guess I should learn, you can't do these things halfway. I'm pleased to have done well with the small sale, but wish I'd had the foresight to sell more at that point.

But then, nobody I know predicted the WTC and related events.

Now it seems like there is an orchestrated second wave of attacks underway: Call businesses and offices around the world with bomb scares. Who can take a chance? Nobody. And so we continue to bleed, a bit here and there.

Chin up, this historical change is just beginning....
