Kant was not really a philosopher he was more of speculator that tried to reach a compromise between the science of the day and religion. His speculations were also a direct response to Luther. If our resident Kant expert could pull his head out of his own cathreda he would realize ramblings from an 18th century dead guy are not entirely relevant.

Kant is so duty-bound he expects you to jump into the fire via his free will. Kant is anti-constitutional and anti-American.

This is a philosopher.

I will not rehearse the complexities of the argument, when you are in so antagonistic a mode. It is not worth the time. Suffice it to say that belief is allowable because it could be, and that belief is a choice. So what? It does not pose as knowledge. On the other, we were not discussing the content of justice, just the hope that it will be achieved in the end.

Hi, Laz.

Unless they're joshin' us, many many more millions of Muslims are appalled at the events of September 11.

I should think that if anyone who thought that life was designed for justice checked out the Discovery Channel, they'd at least have to figure, well, okay, not in the absolutely hellish animal kingdom.

and maybe would remember that we are animals, and be tempted to extrapolate....
