Berney, so what should we do, acquiesce to their demands? Perhaps we should just do nothing, forget the people that died in our embassies in Africa, don't respond to those who tried to sink the COLE, and what about the barracks explosion in Saudia Arabia, to say nothing of New York and the Pentagon? No, we will never win, and perhaps they will never stop their reign of terror. But, I am absolutely certain we must take away their tools and make it as difficult for them to ply their grizzly trade as we can. To do other wise is not within the fabric of my soul. I had rather be dead. How we go about diminishing their capabilities, well there are lots of things we need to do. Increase intelligence. If they are worried about us infiltrating their cells they will be reluctant to discuss their plans at all. No internal communications makes it difficult for them to carry out their plans. Increase internal security. Stop them before they are able to execute their plans. When you catch them and prove their intentions, execute them. If this is a deterrent great. If it isn't, it reduces our warehousing costs of putting them in jail. Just remember, they have not have offered us the opportunity to choose life over death. Take away the money. If they are forced to live in the desert in a mud brick home, it is extremely difficult for them to buy airline tickets, to buy flight instructions, to buy telephones to even hold conversations about the plans. I agree with you, we will probably never take away their will to commit these acts of violence. But if we take away all the rest of their capabilities then they can sit there in their mud hut in the middle of the desert for ever. I shall think of them often while I am planning my next stock trade, hugging my dog, sipping my merlot and snacking on my imported cheese and worrying how well the thermostat on my air conditioning system works. I want very badly to retain the way of life I have come to admire very much. MINE! So the contest as I see it is to find out how fast we can identify them and exterminate them. If we exterminate them faster than they can brain-wash and train them, then they will reach the point of diminishing returns. So far they are way ahead of us, 25 or so of them dead - about 7,000 of us dead. We need to get more efficient real fast. When there are 28,000 times more of them dead than us I will begin to relax. Meanwhile I have to agree with MG, these terrorists, be they of middle eastern descent or not, present a clear danger to our financial system and thus our very way of life. In fact it may be too late. In my opinion we have already lost a substantial piece of it. If we survive this I sure don't want to take a chance of going to sleep and passing this way again. The way I see it, we either declare "war" on them and win as best we can, or we let them do what they will. The latter case is not tenable! I have no wish to become what I perceive them to be. I do not wish to agree to disagree, I would like to hear and understand your solution to the problems at hand. MG had some sobering comments in his last post to me. Is this the way we shall move forward? Can we do anything but endure? As to the use of rhetoric, I do wish I had chosen a different way to express the way I feel, but being not very well educated, sometimes the only language that suffices is one constructed with rhetoric. But this evening I watched a considerable number of middle eastern people shouting "kill the Americans", and "death to America". They are reveling in our anguish. They too paint with a broad brush. Find them, turn them over to their deity what ever that is, and move on. Show them no mercy! I have no respect for ANY person that commits such acts in the name of ANY God. Well I have to go now - and turn my AC down and get another glass of wine - and figure out how I can help send these bastards to meet their allah without taking me with them.
