Re: But the people of the US are demanding vengeance and justice.. and they are demanding that this evil be destroyed, or at least neutralized, so they can return to the peacefulness of their lives.

Until the next terrorist outrage?? I mean, face it: in 1998, you didn't "neutralize" the real perpetrators of the bombing of two US embassies in Africa (that is, a bunch of French mercenaries with the help of some Israelis and Serbs). Somehow, you downplayed what was already a vicious terrorist assault on America's ideals of freedom, justice, etc. But then, among the 270+ fatalities only 12 were Americans... and the whole mess happened thousands of miles away from the American sanctuary, in the wilds of Africa... So President Clinton loosed off a dozen cruise missiles over Sudan and Afghanistan and hastily got away with it.

Problem is, while both American and foreign public opinion can easily get bamboozled all along, the "bad guys" from France, Israel, Russia, Iran, Lybia, etc. know better... So, they took for granted that so long as they can cover up their terrorist asses with an Islamic front, they could always pull another trick on the US. Two embassies and nothing happens to us?! OK, let's shift into high gear: the Pentagon and the WTC are next... Still nothing?! The Yanks keep blaming that Bin Laden bogey? Fine, let's go for a biohazard on Disneyworld and the Sears Roebuck Tower! We've got excess supply of Arab manpower, after all --LOL!

Hence, I think it's time for the US to call a spade a spade and reassess its alliances worldwide. For the other nations are no dupe: when all the media hype on the "civilized world's crusade against barbarians" has subsided, what shall we be left with? Basically: the US, a coupla former colonial powers from proto-fascist Europe, Neofascist Russia, and pseudo-fascist Israel against the timeless, Islamic bogey... But hey, that's quite a pretty exclusive party: what about Africa? Will South Africa join in your grand crusade against the world's archvillains? Nigeria? Kenya and Tanzania (if only to avenge their '98 bombings)? Morocco? Tunisia? Well, okay, let's scrap Africa then...

So what about Latin America? Oh sure, Bush's Mexican buddy Vincente Fox will send in one or two battalions to help the gringos? Brazil? Argentina? Chile, for sure! After all, Pinochet's still alive and kicking --he owes Bush Sr a favor...

And what about Asia? Japan? South Korea? Malaysia? Or, sure, China is raring to join in! With over 1.2 billion people, China could easily disptach several of hundreds of thousands freedom fighters to ITS VERY OWN backyard, couldn't it?

Well, I'm afraid most of the countries I've just mentioned above think the same of the Sept 11 attacks: the Euros, the Jews, the Russians have screwed each other once again, no matter who screwed whom... and now they're looking about for an Arab patsy.

Gus.
