We are talking theory and practice. It is the application of the SOCAS, that I deem to have failed. As I pointed out even Agnosticism makes a truth statement about the inability to know anything, and thereby forces that opinion on the rest of society. Most Atheists I have Recently heard,(in a vain attempt to avoid making truth claims) define Atheism in such a way, that it amounts to little more than Agnosticism. As I pointed out even that fails. Since Atheists and Agnostics are happy to have their position entrenched as the "correct" one, the result is the entrenchment of a particular worldview as the official State View.

Also, the application of SOCAS has come to mean freedom from, as opposed to freedom of religion.

Therefore SOCAS has failed on two counts. First by establishing a religious worldview, and secondly by imposing that worldview on others. As I said to X, perhaps this is the best that can be hoped for? Lets just not pretend that it is a neutral position when in fact it is not.
