Chuck Williams:

No apologies needed. I made some statements and you challenged them. That's the beauty of sites such as this.

Having re-read my post I can see where expressing my opinions without providing a proper background could be misunderstood. Sorry about that. I was summing up my opinion in the interest of brevity. So I'll tell you why I said what I said.

As for congress. They are our leaders. Did our leaders send a clear message to the world by getting justice and retribution for Pan Am 103? Bombing of our embassies? Earlier World Trade Center bombing? Dragging our soldiers bodies in the streets of Mogudishu? Overrunning of our borders? The answer is no.. But I'll give you three guesses on how Israel would respond. I am still livid that they did not vindicate the death of those loved ones thereby encouraging more attacks.

As for Patton. General Patton is what I call a go for the throat hawk. Talking with my uncles and co-workers who served under Patton, various books about him and on the history channel easily verifies his aggressive go for the throat combat philosophy.

Schwarzkopf, with his brilliant leadership and relentless pounding of the enemy with minimal loss of his troops
in the Gulf War demonstrated his hawkish go for the throat combat philosophy. There was a rumor circulating that Schwarzkopf and Powell had disagreement on attack strategies. General Powell wanted to attack up the middle of Iraq's defenses which would incur a greater loss of life. Schwarzkopf didn't and threatened to quit.
Neither General went public with it so who knows.

Colin Powell whom I high regard as a great American with personal achievements to back it up, in my opinion, acts more like a statesman than a go for the throat hawk.

I am a hawk. I want those who attacked my beloved America and the country that harbors those terrorist decimated and shown no mercy. That is the only language they understand. I don't believe Colin Powell possesses the degree of viciousness I seek to unleash on our enemy. As I said, we'll see if this congress has the tenacity and resolve to pay them back. I hope it's better and more successful than there war on drugs.

I didn't really want to get into this because it's off topic, which is why I made my previous pithy statements.

Regards,

Dominick
