The emotional impact at home, most certainly, but abroad colder calculations of realpolitik. Many critical countries will be weighng the meaning and the advantages and disadvantages of aligning their capitals with the US in our pursuit. Most certainly, I would think some realignments may emerge from all this, certainly in the short-term and perhaps longer. I notice the Far Eastern Economic Review is one of the first out of the box with a "thumbsucker"--thin as it is-- examining the dangers and the opportunities in Asia.

Perhaps FA should turn out a special edition. On second thought,not a good idea.
