Right now, the object is stability. An attack on the United States is an attack on the whole world system, and no one who is not making a bid for hegemony needs that. Russia is "derevolutionized", even the Communists are mainly worried about internal order. Russia wants continued favorable treatment from international financial institutions, largely funded by the United States, and inclusion in pan- European institutions, where US approval will count. Putin is pursuing Russian interests.........
