<"contrived attempts at fiscal stimulus>"

That's what happened when Japan's real estate+stock market bubble was burst, they dragged their feet on fiscal stimulus and look what happened, decades of recessions.

It would be a shame if the financial markets lose faith in the FMOC and further tank. In my view, if they refuse to lower rates next week, coupled with other biz stimulus pkgs, that the market could tank further and Oct rate cuts would be useless. The time is now, not in Oct.
