Yes the TCP/IP for the net card. Do you have those PCs set to the Comcast requirement? Not sure what you mean by how Comcast "treats" it?

My PCs have always been moody in trying to use any dynamic IP settings.

You can also go to DNS config and Enable DNS to Host: WorkkgroupName and add the router IP to the DNS server search order on each machine.

Dale, I use the Linksys router also and it generates the IP addresses using DHCP, as you have indicated, that the PCs will use to communicate across the local network for access to the internet. The PCs will automatically use these addresses if you have selected "Obtain on IP address automatically". You do not have to enter any IP address. It seems this part works ok since you have Web and email access from all computers according to an earlier past. Therefore, the IP addresses are correct and working.

I use this configuration (DHCP and Obtainig IP addresses automatically) with no problems using Win2k and Win98 computers on the local network.

The problem is to have file and printer access throughout the local network using TCP/IP instead of NetBEUI because it is not available as an option (why this is not available still has me confused). What is required is to have NetBIOS enabled over TCP/IP. I know how to configure that in Win2k but I'm not sure about Win98 and this is the problem.

At least this is my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong.

I still have not been able to find the link that explains this process. I know it's out there.

Can you ping each machine from the other machine?

Are you sure that the Linksys will act as a switch or hub between systems that are plugged into it? You may need an external switch or hub.
