Anti-Terrorism steps:
Yes, those are good ideas. Check-in personnel should also have database availability to check the background of non-citizens boarding our planes, especially if they fit the profile of terrorists. Don't harass them, just quietly check the database, and call security if you get a "hit".

P.G: Political, economic and local security measures are necessary but I doubt they will prove a lasting solution any more than equivalent measures have been able to permanently eradicate global drug traffic.

The outcome of the war on terrorism depends in the ultimate on the real struggle within the Muslim world for a restoration of their nation states to levels of civilization commensurate with their past achievements. Currently within the Muslim states, there is a very intense struggle beteen radical political believers and the ruling political and religious establishment. These establishments fearful of their own extinction by the Fundamentalists have reacted to the threat in different ways with different measures, forms of Govt and patronage from outsiders.. In each case , the West motivated by own short term economic interests have taken sides and switched positions as convenient.

The Muslim world has been facing a clash of ideology for quite some time. The outcome of this battle will be the most important factor for the rest of the world. We need to ensure that while we hunt down these Terrorist networks , we re-assess our strategy to ensure that existing Govts and radical movements in the Muslim world, both now converge within a definte time frame towards the path of moderation.

I believe this is the most difficult of all the tasks we face if we are to eliminate Global terrorism and get the global economy moving again.
