Muslim States and Economic Progress: Investors Daily had an interesting front page article which I read superficially, basically saying that Muslim States are economic failures. Kind of a parallel with the Communist Bloc situation a decade or so ago. They blame the West and capitalism for the misery of their countries, but it's their own bankrupt political and economic systems that are to blame. An optimist might wonder if there will be a Fall of the Berlin Wall/ Solidarity type scenario in the Islamic world somewhere in the future. Certainly, there have been positive signs when anything close to fair elections have been held in the Islamic world, i.e. Iran.
