I would just like to take the opportunity to tell the thread that the Packers and the second coming of Christ (Brett Favre) can be seen tonight on Monday Night Football. And before anyone questions me - Just because Brett doesn't strut around in a sheet and pair of Sandals is no reason to question his God status.

We Beg for your mercy St Vincent - Oh great one. Lead us to the Promised land.

Music to my ears....

I just deleted about 3 paragraphs of text as it was quickly turning into a rant.

>>Instead, what we are witnessing is the creation of yet another bureaucracy.<<

Now there are 3 agencies - no make that 4 with the NSA - all supposedly doing the same thing. But of course they're all going to cooperate. Of course they all have the same databases that they share. Of course there won't be more confusion.

Bet you thought when you voted Republican that you'd see a downsizing of government and a lowering of taxes.<g> That's not fair really - these are extraordinary circumstances. I just don't think it's helpful to create another agency. Maybe putting the Governor in charge of those other 3 agencies and coordinating all there efforts would make more sense. And don't forget, we also have Naval Intelligence, Army Intelligence, etc.

>>The biggest drain on our economy right now from my POV isn't that Americans aren't "spending enough" (look at credit card debt and delinquency) the problem is too much confiscation of earnings. Layer upon layer of taxation, much of it going to redundant bureaucracies.

Zactly!! And it's going to get worse.

>what we are witnessing is the creation of yet another bureaucracy.<

Normally, I am 100% against more government bureaucracy. However, in this specific situation, I think an office which co-ordinates efforts to protect Americans in their own country is drastically needed.

The recent terrorists attacks to me were "sending a message" that we have to increase our security in the United States, at our borders, at our airports, and we need to review and correct the immigration process that allowed known foreign terrorists to enter our country.
