fyo, the perception of the best "high end" board may change when desktop Palominos at >=1.4 GHz become available. At that speed and performance level, extra memory bandwidth will make a much bigger difference.

I am exceptionally impressed with the SiS 735 used in my new ECS K7S5A. I had some initial SCSI booting problems until I flashed to the latest BIOS, but this is an incredibly fast $69 motherboard. The LAN frees up an extra PCI slot. This board + an MX400 would probably beat any nVidia board in performance.
