I think the answer to your question may lie in what Hearney does for a living, which is to say look at what the company he currently manages does and then imagine how his expertise might be applied to Infospace's future business strategy: "Hearney is currently president and CEO of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a non-partisan organization of business leaders who apply lessons of their successful businesses to making our country safer and more secure." I don't think it's much of a stretch to see how Infospace's cutting edge wireless technologies and dominant wireless technology/content distribution in the U.S. could be expanded into uses for both individual and national security. In fact, I've read the Jain was in the Pentagon during the week and possibly the same day as the Pentagon terrorist attack, which would thematically jive with the implication of Hearney's board appointment.
