Lunden, 37, energy futures broker, TradeSpark division of Cantor Fitzgerald LP. Most of Lunden's career at Cantor Fitzgerald was in its bread- and-butter business, U.S. government bonds. He was a vice president and partner at Cantor. Recently, he joined the TradeSpark division to help Cantor develop new markets in energy contracts. Friends and colleagues remembered him as the quintessential dress-down, casual guy: His favorite attire was a pair of khaki slacks, a Brooks Brothers striped shirt and loafers -- and no socks. Maybe he didn't love socks, but he loved food and wine. His family and friends said he worked as a sommelier at Windows on the World, the restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center -- just above Cantor Fitzgerald's offices. Lunden also knew how to collect friends as well as wines. ``He had quite a legion of followers,'' Dan Furth, his close friend since high school, told the Chicago Tribune. ``If you asked any one of them, they'd say, `Yeah, we were best friends.'' Lunden was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and grew up in Northbrook and Glenview, Illinois, outside Chicago. He attended Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois, and graduated from Fairfield University in 1986 with a bachelor of science degree in finance. Since then, he had lived in New York City. Lunden was a longtime member of the New York Athletic Club and St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on the Upper West Side of New York. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, and nine-month-old son Matthew; his mother, Rosemary Ritt of Tequesta, Florida, and his father, Francis Lunden of Philadelphia; his brother Mark and sister Tracey; his parents in law; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held. One last note: any men attending the memorial Mass, Lunden's dad says: no socks, please. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- © Copyright 2001, Bloomberg L.P.
