You don't need to remind me that on the Internet, you don't know when you're talking to a dog. I think this one's the real deal.

Oh, it's the "Real Deal" all right. Just pass your mouse pointer over the name in his profile, and you'll see his e-mail address is all you need to know. If ya want more proof, here's a little blurb from the "BIO" of a John Hull, retrieved from an intel web site:

"The $500 million Intel Communications Fund within Intel Capital, directed by Hull, invests in technology companies developing innovative networking and communications solutions that are complementary to Intel’s architectures. Since its inception the Intel Communications Fund has invested $261 million in 68 companies."

Maybe you should check out John's member profile.

John Hull was kind enough to point me to a spreadsheet showing Intel's investment gains for the past 2.5 years. The gross profits of such were over $4B during those years. I applied a 30% tax rate to the figure and it was still over $3B net. That's almost enough to have funded their entire share repo program for Y2K at an average price of $54.

Their gross profit from investment gains in Y2K was over $3B, including over $2B in 2Q2000 alone. Their gross profit from investment gains in 2001 has totalled $3M so far, a 99.8% decrease YoY. I still wonder about the magnitude of their unrealized investment losses in this market environment.
