You are paranoid CC. How do you suppose that an actor running for president has more pull internationally than the sitting president? Even if your dillusional theory is correct, doesn't say much about Carter's ability to get the job done, does it? Please explain how Reagan took the reigns of foriegn diplomacy from a sitting president.

The "negotiators" you know wouldn't happen to have an interest in covering for their incompetence. If their negotiations were so successful than why the rescue mission? And if we had more "terrorist trainers" right now Bin Laden would already be dead. The only reason they were hostages in the first place was Carter's completely moronic conduct up to that point. Instead of cutting off the shah at the knees he could have pressured for elections in exchange for support - the formula has worked in the past (though not always). Carter was among the 3 worst presidents of ALL TIME.
