The least that can be said is that he did not use much "Diplomacy".

But part of his comment is not false.

`These remarks are the result of the Italian prime minister's ignorance about Islam's culture and civilization and its fundamental impact on Western civilization,'' said Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi.

Will some of you please field this one? It starts a discussion worthy of this thread. What are the contributions to Western civilization Islam has made? Please be specific and clear.

For my part, I will begin by saying that Islamic clothing, dance and architecture are some of the most beautiful, enchanting, and sensually elegant - sorry Ayatollah - I have ever seen. (Maybe that's why Westerners are not welcome - who wants to share that with Mcdonald's, NFL and draft beer fans anyway? lol) Of these, for a start, I truly wish we would be able to share far more. I plan on visiting Lebanon one day soon. It is a beautiful place, and so are the people, many of whom I have met here in Washington.
