GV, re: All that will be accomplished is that AMD will reinforce Intel's brand value. It's worse, it will really hurt AMD's brand value. There is an unspoken trust between manufacturer and consumer. When you read a spec on a carton, milligrams in medicine, weight for a pack of food, octane for gasoline, calories for food, really almost any consumer product, you are conditioned to trust a measurement number. That trust runs pretty deep. If it turns out you were cheated, how many times will you buy that brand again? Here comes AMD with a fixed industry standard, and they are treating it as a discretionary number, easily disproved. Their marketing department is risking the reputation of the brand on a scheme that is going to leave the customer completely confused, at best. John
