Here comes AMD with a fixed industry standard, and they are treating it as a discretionary number, easily disproved.

Their marketing department is risking the reputation of the brand on a scheme that is going to leave the customer completely confused, at best.

What's worse is only a year ago when AMD beat Intel to 1GHz by 3 days, they heralded it like it was breaking the sound barrier or landing on the moon. Now they're turning around and saying "it doesn't matter." AMD also used to use a PR system and dropped it "because it confused consumers." Here they are again doing the same thing... I actually still hold a few shares of AMD stock, though I hold far more Intel. The Intel investing side of me is happy. I'll probably never see my money back out of the AMD... Oh well, at least I'll have a loss I can use to mitigate other gains...

Why do people do desperate things? They're desperate.

John, RE: It's worse, it will really hurt AMD's brand value.

I disagree.

For AMD to hurt their brand value, there had to be some value in the first place.
