But, I hope you will agree, that the quest of wisdom, the idea of the spirit, and the hope of immortal life are not trivial things, to be stowed away in the foot locker of forbidden taboos.

The "Hope" of immortality is exactly that --->trivial.

It was stressed and incorporated into the liturgy of dogmas
to sway and captivate the common man and peasant ... it
has an allure as great as that of the "flesh" .

One desires "immortality " , and builds a theme around
something that is already yours by virtue of "living ".
Men have killed 1000's recently for that very concept
of that promise of heaven, I hope you noticed.

The soul is that which survives bodily decay ?

That's it ? How such a limited and confused approach
to describe something so divine , effulgent , and
filled with light <gg>

I'm sure the scenes of rotting flesh and the vultures
frightened and repulsed many in the ancient world ,
but today we all have a more enlightened view of
the processes of birth and decay . It is a very large
innaccuracy to describe the true nature of our soul
with such images of death , evil ,and escape
from rotting decay.

How ugly and limited....

Thomas Aquinas was the best "thinker" that christianity
produced ? And yet he was not original and borrowed from
the pagan ...because the pagan had the deeper more
penetrating view . He was freer to explore the open
ground that was set before him. That description above
of the soul and hatred of the flesh , and belief that you
cannot become more enlightened is exactly why Christianity
lived in dark times for centuries.

It is noble to battle the flesh. But, alas, an exercise in vanity. The flesh always wins. That is the secret of our inner nature.

So you have lived with a Korean woman and known a Hindu,
but have you ever known one Hindu or Buddhist Master
that you so easily and dogmatically dismiss their lives
as failures ? Then you know absolutely nothing,
I'm afraid.

This is one of the classic wonders of my life , that within
even our own 20th century we had an example of the
Mahatma Gandhi Ji , a real life beautifully lived
and you can dismiss his sacrifices with such ease.

And Gandhi is only one of many great souls that has been produced and served to enlighten humanity from very high
spiritual places ...taking lifetimes to achieve.

And they teach selflessly a wisdom that truely transcends
a "Freedom from decay " as you call it . The point I was
making to you is not to dismiss it so easily Christian,
it may end up surprising you and Thomas Aquinas in the
end , who could only write about and reason , but his
heart did not fully know.

The point I was also making to you , is that your "theories"
about freedom from decay , haven't the slightest allure for me at all. It is what i do in life that matters.

And the other point I was making to you is that God has
many begotten sons , not just one . And if you haven't
heard the good news of this , that has been taught in Hinduism for so long , then let me be the first to share the good news.

Hinduism believes in One transcedent God of Gods , and
like the acorn , your soul is a seed from that same
infinitely benign & eternally radiating , effulgent
source .

But I'm sure though you already knew this....God had many
"Sons and Daughters" dear Christian not just one ...time to
wake up and smell the eternal roses.

;-)

PS: Thanks for posting that though !
