I don't find kindness to be illogical, except where you bestow "kindness" on people who don't perceive it as kind.
Of course that totally depends on how you define kindness.
The missionaries to the Indians managed to believe that is was a kindness to capture Indians, and put them to work like slaves (because in capturing them they were "saving" them). I know the Jehova's Witnesses who come to my door think they are being very kind, by coming to "share" with me. I can think of lots of examples of this kind of 'sharing".

You could define kindness as requiring an empathy component, so that your kindness is dependent on what the recipient of your kindness wants. Logically, this would seem appropriate.
