It is very interesting to me that these groups are called "cells" because cells make up an organism

Yes... I believe that was the origin of the term, if I recall correctly.

But the main theory is that they will operate independently, with very little knowledge of other cells operating, to ensure compartmentalization of information and membership.

Only the leadership of each cell should have contact with the next higher level, so that any compromise of a cell will be limited to that group, thus preserving the integrity of the umbrella " terrorist/guerilla organism.

And I concur about "relative safety". We all face various dangers every day. However, most of us have some measure of control over our daily lives. We can choose to be somewhere, or not.

But this was more than a crime, as I believe most of us understand. This was a deliberate act of war, by a "non-state actor" who had officially declared war upon the US years ago.

What's "humourous" to me, is that had we been "less tolerant" as a nation and government, and taken people like Bin Laden serious when they "declare war" on the US, AND hunted them down and killed them whereever they were, we'd probably see fewer fanatics using such verbage in the future..

Used to be when words actually meant something... A time when, if you threatened to kill someone, you might find yourself being killed first...

Maybe not the ideal that we'd like to guide our Foreign Policy by, but quite effective in making folks watch what they say.

The fact is, we are in a new era of history >>>>>>

Technologically, yes we are. Biologically we are still Homo Sapiens.

It is almost as if we are dealing with a different species in Afghanistan? After all they do live in mud huts and caves not unlike prehistoric Neandertals.

Modern man has created rules that ensure the survival of our species. Rules that the Taliban and it's followers abhor.

It does seem that the people of Afghanistan have become enslaved by an intolerant, subhuman "species" that is bent on guarding its survival in a most archaic way. The only difference being they no longer throw spears, but missiles.

They would be wise to study the history of mankind, for to deviate from assimilation, they doom their "species."

They still prefer to reside in a world not unlike the world of the Neandertal. I would say that their chances of survival are probably the same as those cavemen they emulate.
