After removing partitions and trying a reformat like another poster suggested I did get a new HDD because that strategy didn't help in this case. I've been trying in vain to reload Windows and it's having a hard time identifying devices for some reason. Maybe I've not done things in the right order or something...still checking that out. But I've lost many hours of work and sleep now to this and will be using HDD imaging in the future to save the whole damn thing instead of just data. BTW, RMA dept at Axiontech swapped the HDD with zero hassle, continuing to be a great source for components.
