Re:"Soon we will see how AMD does when it attacks using some reasonable marketing and favorable product identification."

We will get a report card for AMD shortly when Q3 earnings are released. Hint: expect losses behind, losses ahead....

Another hint: when AMD keeps losing major customers, market share is falling.

Soon we will see how AMD does when it attacks using some reasonable marketing and favorable product identification.

When??? You surely don't mean the resurrection of the PR number do you??? Intel marketing is going to have a field day with that!

It's interesting to note that they were able to double their market share, taking millions of sales away from Intel in the process, before they had either one.

They had a good product and took advantage of some uncharacteristic Intel goofs. *shrug* It's not rocket science to see how they could be successful in that environment. AMD has had this level of market share before. With the loss of Gateway, I don't see how they can maintain their current share... Also, I honestly have reservations about how competitive their roadmap is going forward. If they had been able to get the Pally out 6 months ago, they'd be in much better shape. Now it's coming out concurrent with Northwood. I don't think it will keep up... regardless of what "model number" they put on it...
