And that fear of war was going to be there anyway.
There is no way the events on the morning of 9-11 would go unnoticed by the public and fear is a natural reaction to that. The fear grew to the point that it because the larger problem primarily because the President spent the day silent in apparent flight when he could easily have radioed inspiration in from Air Force One or any of the bases. That was followd by inflamatory remarks about War and Pearl Harbor as if Afganistan really had a chance of conquering the U.S. If you don't recognize the source of the mistakes that have happened then you risk repeating them, like re-electing the boy who would be FDR.
