Quehubo: It's hard to believe these are objectionable comments. Berlusconi said, "We have to be conscious of the strength of our civilization; we cannot put the two civilizations on the same level. All of the achievements of our civilization: free institutions, the love of liberty itself - which represents our greatest asset - the liberty of the individual and the liberty of peoples. These, certainly, are not the inheritance of other civilizations such as Islamic civilization." Talk about hilarious. Would someone like to point out the Islamic society that values "the liberty of the individual and the liberty of peoples"? Would that be Indonesia? How about the Sudan? Libya? Afghanistan? Oh, I forgot, it must be either Iraq or Iran. Would someone like to point out an "achievement" of Islamic civilization dating after, say, 1200 A.D.? I know the Arabs invented the zero. Domo arigato, but what have they done for the world lately? I wouldn't have brought this up, normally, but I was searching Berlusconi's comments for something, well, objectionable . . . Kb
