He gives about a dozen verses of blessing and ends with, "everything you put your hands to I'll bless." Then He gives a long list (over 100 verses) on what happens if the people turn their hearts away from Him -- "If you're walking with Me it doesn't matter who comes against you, or who you go against -- you will always win. But if you're not walking with Me, it doesn't matter how small the enemy is, you will always be defeated." The question of whether the recent attacks on America have anything to do with judgment from God has been a heated debate. I believe that America has always been a beacon (even if dim) to the world of God's truth. Has any other country attempted to spread the word of the Gospel? I believe that attacks like this one could have happened many times -- even many years ago. Why have they not? I believe that God has kept a firm hand of protection on America. But in recent years, America as a nation has slowly decreased the numbers of people who want to please God. Slowly, America has been deciding, by their collective actions, that they don't really need God. Surely the one Super-Power with great minds and technology can become "god-like" on their own. We MUST read the Scriptures to see how God deals with nations that begin to slip in their desire to please God. He never judges a nation all at once. He speaks quietly through the Holy Spirit and people's minds. If not enough people respond so the direction of the nation turns, he may send a messenger. No response -- he may send a prophet. Then come small judgments -- perhaps weather related. If no response, then he removes a little of His protection -- perhaps losing a war like Vietnam or a terrorist attack?? Finally, God will remove his blessings and all protection. Then, of course, if no one turns -- judgment and death. If America has existed and prospered under God's blessings, then where is America within this time line of God's dealing with nations? America better not be offended by the question, but the leaders better recognize where America is and not respond to current events with only pride and their own strength and vengeance. They must deal with the problem, but help the American people to repent where needed and go on the attack WITH god's renewed hand of protection. I remain, SOROS
