I was referred to Ha'aretz by an Iranian-American scholar who teaches conflict resolution, among other subjects. He felt it was the most balanced paper in the Middle East, and he certainly has criticisms of Israeli government choices, along with other governments.

After viewing several regional papers, his assessment seems reasonable to me.
