Unfortunately, the Austrians are no fans of the operatic settings of Goethe's Faust. Faust is usually a guaranteed flop in Vienna - no matter who is singing. My favorite production a few years ago had the Mephisto character rip his heart out on stage and begin eating it. That caused a mass exodus for the coffee house and heurige crowd even though some of the best music was yet to come. BB
