Fyo, Re: It's quite amazing and I have a hard time believing he got all his information from patents. Yes, if everything is true the Hammer will be an amazing processor architecture. Hans might haven gotten some Microprocessor Forum slides in advance, otherwise I don't think he would have that much inside information about the architecture. The only thing that irritated me a little bit was Hans claim that the memory controller would not be integrated into the northbridge. I thought AMD had already confirmed that it would be integrated? (which could reduce latency significantly) Andreas

It's quite amazing and I have a hard time believing he got all his information from patents. I don't think you could get all the information about a chip design from patents. You could either combine it with other information and get a good idea of how a chip was going to be designed or you could look at the patents and figure how how you would design a chip using those technologies, but I doubt that you can look at patents and figure out the design of a next generation chip.
