Guy on Greyhound bus uses "boxcutter" as his weapon. Hmmm, it certainly is the choice piece now. Of course it is now axiomatic, a mere eight hours later, that THERE IS NO CONNECTION WITH THIS ATTACK AND ANY MIDDLE EASTERN TERRORIST CELLS! Whew, thank goodness.

Haim, thanx for the article...sure enough, Islam itself has probably held back the development of the Muslim countries. one of the big problems (probably the biggest actually) is that Islam has demoted women to second-class citizens. this prevents them from meaningfully contributing to society...imagine the economic consequences of all of our women becoming veiled house wives.
and it's easy to see how the apparent inferiority of Muslim countries in terms of progress and economic/cultural achievements breeds resentment. nevertheless, it's too easy to dismiss our involvement in the affairs of Muslim countries out of hand as a factor in this resentment.
and pondering these questions doesn't make one automatically an apologist for the terrorists, as has been suggested in several articles.
after all, if we follow this line of reasoning to its ultimate conclusion, we can buy safety only by completely crushing Islam...and that's obviously not a viable alternative.
