TS, I agree with you. There's nothing inherently evil about communism. It was the force and corruption of the implementation that were the problem. As a practical matter, I don't see how it could be implemented on a very large scale without both because I think it goes against human nature. But in a small community it could be viable and satisfying.

And what does it say about those who don't willingly contribute?

Karl Marx imagined a dictatorship of the proletariat, and foresaw expropriating from the expropriators. Perhaps I should say Marxism or revolutionary communism is an evil idea and "peaceful free communism" is a deluded idea, at least beyond the level of a small commune and often even then.
