In talking with others I know, my impression is that there are a large number of people waiting to buy a new phone until a new phone will be different enough. Like with computers, there is/was no incentive to buy a new one unless it was significantly faster/larger.

Virtually all analysts say that only voice issues are and will drive wireless phone sales, but that reminds me of the early days of personal computers when they were slow and few fun uses existed to stimulate buyers to want to upgrade.

I myself can't wait to use "Road Warrior" and similar data/GPS linked applications on my wireless phone.

I expect there will be a large number of people buying the 3G phones when available. We are after all not that different from the Koreans or Japanese, are we? Or are we just a nation of non-innovating, non-adventurous people? I think not.

Moen: Your situation is exactly the reason wireless deployment at the enterprise level will eventually supplant pc related devices. Imagine senior mgmt being able to communicate in real time to the troops in the field and vice versa. Hard to quantify yet easy to envision the immense cost savings?
