Bush said in Congress : "we'll fight terrorism involved in worldwide activities". That means more than two countries, which connotes that, Irak, Iran and Syria are not concerned, unless proven otherwise.

Paul,

The situation is FU beyond belief, and no one is without culpability. Its a moral morass, and no one looks good right now, yet we must take action to correct the most recent injustice, which will perpetuate the cycle of violence into the twilight of humanity's future.

This is not as President Bush said, "A war of good vs. evil". Rather, it is simply our turn to come take the plunge in a seesawing war against the most recent evil committed by the "other" side.

Would you rather we just fight it out with all of them now?

In this case, I would rather we fight a series of winning battles and show the people of these countries that we aren't out to expand some agenda. In my opinion if they all weren't such chickenshits they'd fight this thing out, and to the victor goes the spoils.

I think now is the time to prioritize our targets instead of getting wrapped up in the details. Careful planning and politics is the only way to keep this whole thing from turning into a powder keg. The same people who are fighting against us, are stirring up trouble in Israel to try and escalate this into a large scale war. Arafat is nothing more than a puppet, and the Israelis are simply being played for fools right now.

Make no mistake, their goals are not for peace but to bring about the end of American capitalism, democratic, and religious freedom to expand their own agenda. If these people wanted anything less than that we'd have a list of demands at our feet instead of 6000 dead bodies and a bunch of scumbag weenies running away and hiding like the cowardly little pricks they are.

Our goal has to be to accomplish our objectives towards our own interests. This sure as hell isn't about expanding democracy, or moral and human rights issues. First, it has to be to stop what we can stop by going after the known targets and dividing the large organizations that are helping these people to operate. What we don't want is to provide them a place to reorganize themselves by alienating other governments into supporting them--if in the end we get screwed over, it was probably gonna happen anyway. Of course it would be nice if we didn't give them guns to shoot at us...

In my opinion, it wasn't an easy decision to hop in bed with the likes of Iran and Syria, but it was probably the best one. Obviously if any of these countries were democratic, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now, but in order for that to happen, the people of these countries have to be willing to fight for it, and that isn't going to happen any time soon.
