I quickly learned that the 'expansion of territory' that Jabez asks for is in the spiritual realm. What greater E X P A N S I O N of territory can one have other than salvation and eternal life , unlimited access to God's throne, made possible by the blood of our Lord. So in this respect this prayer is pointing all fingers and toes to the coming of Christ.In Christ gregor

My view is that there was nothing lovable in us. John 3:16 says more about God's character than our "lovableness". For God so loved the world, not For the world was so lovable.

Who in the heck would want to love a creature that constantly thumbs his nose at the creator and says f/u? Only someone able to rise above what his creatures would never do.
